The Morning Rainbow

Morning rainbow, sun will shine

Feelings I carry, difficult to mine

Pelicans bust the water, there’s fish to find

Sailboats swing, on mooring lines

Peaceful this scene but, gives me no calm

Proud to be an American, no longer a psalm

We had Walter Cronkite, giving both sides

Chaney changed the laws, news could divide

Talk show icons, masking the true

Suddenly, we’re either red or blue

One side shouted down, our country lost

Common ground washed away, at tremendous cost

That never happened, history lost

Immigrants shaming immigrants, there was no Holocaust

Our society addicted, to disinformation

Internet listening, without permission

Our President mocked cerebral palsy, defying human reason

But, Dr. Pimplepopper ran for all the nine seasons

David Crosby asked, “Can you tell me please, who won?”

Brotherhood and futility in that statement, with hope to come

Light shines from within, make yourself available

Pursue common ground, mindfulness attainable
